What is nanotechnology?
    Nanotechnology Definition [html]
Nanotechnology is the understanding and control of matter at dimensions between approximately 1 and 100 nanometers, where unique phenomena enable novel applications. Encompassing nanoscale science, engineering, and technology, nanotechnology involves imaging, measuring, modeling, and manipulating matter at this length scale. www.nano.gov

Nanotechnology:  Big Things from a Tiny World  [pdf] [html]
Nanotechnology: Big Things from a Tiny World is a new nanotechnology brochure that explains nanotechnology and its potential. The brochure is intended for general public use and illustrates useful concepts such as the size of the nanoscale.

What is a nanometer and how big (small) is it?
A nanometer (nm) is one billionth of a meter (10-9 meters).

A human hair is roughly 100,000nm wide.
If you place 10 hydrogen atoms in a line, their total width would be approximately one nm.
